In 2011, Josh Portis rookie year, he signed a 3 year contract with the Seattle Seahawks. After a solid performance in his first NFL training camp, Portis solidified a spot as the teams 3rd Quarterback and spent his rookie season on the active roster.
Whenever his number was called, Josh demonstrated his unique combination of leadership and skill.
Josh
was a back-up QB at Florida and played QB at Maryland while
receiving his Bachelor Degree. After receiving his bachelor
degree at Maryland, Josh went to Cal U. to work on his Master
Degree. He is the first player at Cal U. to be invited to
the NFL Combine.
Coming
out of high school, he was recruited by Florida, Maryland,
Washington and many other D1 schools. Josh was ranked 4th
dual threat QB in the nation by Rivals. He was also voted
Los Angeles High School QB of the year.
At
Cal, Portis was one of the best quarterbacks in school history.
He ranks fourth all-time with 6,072 passing yards and set
the Vulcan's' career record with 69 touchdown passes.
Portis
completed 61.2 percent of his passes for 2,605 yards and 33
touchdowns last year. He became the first California player
invited to the NFL Scouting Combine.
